Over the last few decades there has been an increasing interest in the old pagan beliefs. Celtic symbols are founded on the principles of feeling compassionate for Nature and her influence. Celtic magical beliefs are firmly embedded in the Earth herself and in the fundamental spirits that are the very core of all Nature. This includes the four basic Elements which make up Nature: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Celtic knots or Celtic interlace were primarily used to decorate Bible manuscripts, monuments and jewelry. The ancient Celts had a vast knowledge of, and respect for, the healing and magical qualities of plants, stones and symbols. They knew and used the power flows of the Earth, trees and special outcroppings of rock. They called upon the elemental spirits, the 'little people' of the Irish, the gnomes and fairies of the British. Celtic knots have no beginning or end and are therefore complete loops.

Plaitwork, which is a pattern of interwoven (but unknotted) cords, is the earliest form of knotwork. Plaitwork is not unique to the Celts; examples are found in many cultures. Modern Pagans believe that the interlaced knotwork patterns with their unbroken lines are symbolizing the binding of man's soul to the earth, and the process of man's eternal spiritual growth. It is thought that it cannot be untied until he realizes his spiritual potential and is able, through his endeavors, to break free of the cycle of rebirth. Some view interlacing knots as a representation of the cosmic loom, symbolizing the existence of the spirit through time, and space, and lifetimes.

Because there is no beginning and end with this pendant it will make a beautiful gift for somebody you love. Show them your love is boundless.
