How Do Blowguns Work?

You will most probably need some practice before you can use your blowgun with confidence, but once you get the hang of it, you will find that it is a very effective and easy tool to use. The best way to use a blowgun is as follows:

• Insert the dart into the blowgun, with its point facing towards the muzzle of the blowgun
• Take a deep breath and hold it while placing the lips on the mouthpiece of the blowgun
• Aim the (muzzle of the) blowgun at your target and exhale in one short burst

As the effectiveness of your blowgun technique depends mostly on your breathing, it may take a while for you to get used to this way of exhaling.
